December - Always a fun month!! Dad and I went to Michigan for Christmas and had a gre
December 31: The unexpected - Here's the e-mail that explains the first week of this year...
I was about two weeks late with my period but not sure because I hadn’t been keeping track. I was going to do a pregnancy test on January 1st. On Saturday night I started having moderate pelvic pain that lasted for a couple of hours but assumed it was PMS cramps. On Sunday it was tender all day then at about 6:00pm the pain got very severe and I was doubled over. Chris and I figured that it was ovarian cysts, which I had had trouble with many times before when my follicles didn’t release – we thought that was why I was late too. On Monday I went to Dr. Penney and had the very first positive pregnancy test of my life. Dr. P told me that after he did an ultrasound and didn’t find anything in my uterus – meaning it was in the tubes. We did some blood tests to confirm and got the shots later Monday afternoon. Since then I have a constant pressure, short of like cramps and occasional severe pain.
I am taking it easy so it doesn’t rupture and cause bigger problems. I’ll have to go back to the doctor on Monday to make sure the shots worked and get more if they didn’t.
The good news….I got pregnant!!! I was told this wasn’t possible without intervention but now we have hope!!!! Although, it took 7 ½ years of trying to get my first pregnancy, I am trying to control my expectations."
Come to find out, the shots didn't work and I had to have them again the next week. This caused the pain to come back and a couple more days out of work. Then, on January 9, the pain got worse and was unbearable...the ectopic had started to rupture. Another visit to Dr. P's office - he was on vacation so Dr. W got to do the surgery. It wasn't an "emergency" but we did go straight to the hospital and ended up having surgery around 6pm. They removed the pregnancy and also removed my right fallopian tube due to the damage. Dr. W actually wanted to remove my left tube as well and left the surgery to ask Chris what he thought. They decided to keep it for my emotional health. But, it is also very damaged and although I had some high hopes for about one week...the chances of a natural pregnancy are now in half. Unfortunately, they were pratically zero before. Needless to say, January was a bad month...
Adoption Update - To make it even better, we found out that Baby Mama had the baby at the end of the month. She decided to keep him and the hospital let her - despite the fact that he had marijuana in his system.
Superbowl Sunday - I was the star of a Superbowl Commercial!! I friend of mine from an advertising agency hooked me up in a fun commercial for a local car dealership. It airs often and several people ask me about it daily. I can see how Brittany Spears gets tired of the paparazzi!!
Chris is preparing for a May bear hunt with Uncle Robert in Idaho. This involves a truck named Pretty Boy, a trailer named The Tank, and a freezer named Old Reliable...all in an interesting shade of Cherry Red! It also involves collecting dead beavers for bait and many discussions on logistics and strategy with Uncle Robert.
I'm gearing up for a trip to the Arbonne National Training Conference in Atlanta next week. I'm looking forward to hanging out with some of the most amazing women in the world...and I'm more than a little excited about the Tim McGraw concert on Saturday night.
I guess that's information overload for today...now that I have high speed internet (oh yeah, that was the highlight of February) it's alot easier to post and add pics and stuff.
Send me a note, I'd love to hear what's up with you!!Jennifer
