If you've been reading our blog all year long, I'm sure you have a pretty good feel for what's been going on around here. If you haven't, feel free to go back and read some older posts and see what we've been up to. There are alot of pictures on the blog, and even more at http://www.thomafamilyphotos.shutterfly.com/.
I think we can summarize our year with one word...Casper. Casper was born in April and our lives will never be the same.
We spent the first part of the year preparing for his arrival. I was huge and uncomfortable but happy that my boy was coming soon. Chris was excited to, but we were both a little nervous. His arrival went smoothly and we felt blessed the very first moment we saw him. Neither of us can imagine loving anyone or anything on earth more than this little guy.
He has been a very good little boy since the very beginning. He's pretty independent, doesn't fuss much, learns quickly, and smiles alot. He likes to cuddle but only with Mommy and only early in the morning. Any other time he is on the move. He has four teeth now and is commando crawling all over - we call him the bulldozer. He's started pulling up on stuff this week and I'm sure he'll be walking soon. He loves wrestling with Mommy and Daddy. He's hardly afraid of anything and we're not sure if this is good or not. Sometimes, it sounds like he's talking, saying things like Hey, DaDa, Yes, Trees, and Deer. We can't wait to see what he's going to do each and everyday. Boy do we love this little guy! I think God knew what he was doing...making us wait for our Casper!
My Mom stays here at our house with Casper during the day and my Dad has been visiting alot too since he retired at the end of November. I'm thankful that Mom is watching him for several reasons not the least of which is that sometimes the three of us are still cuddling under the covers when she shows up...that's way better than bundling him up and taking him to daycare. I'm also thankful that she is spoiling me a little by doing the laundry when she can and going grocery shopping.
Besides enjoying the baby, we have had some adventures this year. Chris and I both we on a free trip to Mexico in January, a trip I earned from the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. We also made a trip to Michigan in May - to introduce Casper - and again in September for my cousin Paige's wedding. Earlier in September, Chris made a trip to Wyoming to go antelope hunting. He was supposed to be gone 10 days but made it home early after getting his three antelope on the first day. I think he missed me...or was it Casper that he missed?
Now, we're enjoying the Christmas season...keeping Casper away from the tree and packages, buying gifts but trying not to overdue it, taking Casper to see Santa, teaching him to say Ho Ho Ho, and explaining the real meaning of Christmas and who all the people are in his Nativity.
It has been a very good year for us, we have so much to be thankful for including each one of you, our family and friends. We can't wait to hear from you...give us a call, send us an e-mail, or just stop by, we love having visitors!
We hope you have a Merry Christmas and an Amazing New Year!
